Carbon Business Account Onboarding Guide

Welcome to Carbon Business! This guide will walk you through the steps required to successfully create a Carbon Business Account and complete the onboarding process.


Step 1: Initiating the Sign-Up Process

  1. Navigate to the Sign-Up button on the Carbon Business platform.

  2. Click on Sign Up with Email (if you don’t already have an account).

  3. Fill in the required details accurately.

  4. The platform provides resources to help register a business, but if your business is already registered, you can skip this step.

Step 2: Business Type Selection

  1. Select your business type:

    • Limited Liability Company

    • Sole Proprietorship

    • Partnership

    • NGO

  2. Confirm that your business is in Nigeria (default selection).

  3. Review and accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy before proceeding.

Step 3: Application Preview and Submission

  1. Review all the details entered.

  2. If everything is accurate, check the I have reviewed and verified box.

  3. Click Sign Up to proceed.

Step 4: Verification Process

  1. A verification code will be sent to your registered phone number and email address.

  2. Enter the received verification code.

  3. Once both email and phone verification are completed, your account will be successfully verified.

  4. Proceed to the Know Your Business (KYB) Stage.

Step 5: KYB (Know Your Business) Stage

  1. Log in using your email and password.

  2. Set up a secure PIN for added security.

  3. Select your business industry (e.g., Auto Spare Parts Dealers).

  4. Provide the business address, ensuring it matches the address on the utility bill that will be uploaded.

  5. Input the business registration date and state of registration.

Step 6: Uploading Director Information

  1. Upload details of your company directors:

    • Verify that the details match those on your CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) document and Memorandum and Articles of Association (MemArt).

    • Specify if the director is politically exposed (Yes/No).

    • Indicate if the director is a shareholder and enter the corresponding percentage shareholding.

    • Provide the director’s ID type (e.g., NIN, Passport) and upload a clear copy.

    • Upload a proof of address (e.g., electricity bill, bank statement).

  2. Repeat the process for each director.

  3. Confirm that all director details match those in your CAC Status Report.

Step 7: Uploading Business Documents

  1. Upload the required business documents:

    • Business Application Form or Status Report.

    • Certificate of Incorporation (upload as a single file if possible).

    • Memorandum and Articles of Association (MemArt).

    • Proof of Address (dated within the last 3 months, matching the registered business address).

  2. Upload documents as one merged file or as multiple files.

Step 8: Final Review and Submission

  1. Review all provided details carefully.

  2. Ensure:

    • The proof of address matches the registered address and is dated within the last 3 months.

    • All director information is correct and matches CAC records.

    • All uploaded business documents are valid and complete.

  3. Check the confirmation box and submit the application.

  4. Your account is now under review. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation notification.
